NEW LAWS
Travel and work in Australia for up to 24 months.

From November 2005, Backpackers and other Working Holiday Makers (WHM's) will be able to apply for another extended WHM visa if they have completed at least 3 months seasonal harvest work in regional Australia. Seasonal work includes Fruit Picking such as apples, pears, oranges, mellons, potatoes etc, Vegetable Harvesting and other seasonal work.

Over 100,000 visas were issued in 2012 Tax Year, and we expect this to almost double with the new laws coming into effect for late 2005.

Permanent Resident Applications
WHM visa holders will be allowed to apply for a Skilled Independent Regional visa while still onshore, providing a faster process to permanent residence.

The Working Holiday Program provides a wonderful opportunity for self-sufficient and enthusiastic young people from 18+ participating countries to spend up to 24 months exploring Australia, with the option of engaging in casual employment when travel funds need replenishing.

The Australian Department of Immigration (D.I.M.I.A.) has now made the visa application process much faster and more convenient by giving you the option to apply online.

In some cases, D.I.M.I.A. may contact you before they reach a decision to:
* request additional information from you;
* arrange an interview at an Australian Diplomatic office.

You may also be asked to undergo a health check. This is required by most applicants.

Health Check
A chest x-ray and / or medical examination is required in certain circumstances.

Usually these circumstances will be identified at the time you are making the application and, if applicable, you will be informed of these other medical requirements at that time.

Occasionally circumstances will exist that require you to undertake a chest x-ray and / or medical examination that were not identified at the time of making the visa application. If this occurs you will be contacted by this Department.
